The Latest AS Roma News
Roma are closing in on the signing of Davide Zappacosta on loan from Chelsea, claim various reports.
Gianluca Petrachi has been working to find a solution for the right-back position, and after reports linked the club with Napoli's Elseid Hysaj, the former Torino sporting director has opted to go for someone he has worked with before. Italian international Zappacosta - who Petrachi signed and sold in Turin - is expected to join Roma on a season-long loan from Chelsea, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, which will include no option to buy. The 27-year-old is scheduled to have a medical at Roma tomorrow, before the deal can be officially completed. As Zappacosta arrives, Davide Santon is expected to depart, with the full-back holding talks with La Liga newcomers Mallorca. The former Inter Milan and Newcastle defender's move would also be a loan, but this operation could include an option for a permanent purchase, per Sky Sport's Di Marzio.
Zappacosta's arrival has since been confirmed by Roma's press officer, Lorenzo Serafini, who reveals that the full-back's flight to Fiumicino airport in Rome will arrive at 11:30pm tonight.
