The Latest AS Roma News
Roma have failed in an attempt to sign Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The young winger had a successful season in Florence, and Roma are still a little light in terms of attacking options. The report states that Roma offered €40m plus Stephan El Shaarawy to land the Italian forward, but Fiorentina have held firm on their young star. Napoli are also interested. Gazzetta also says that a deal for the Giallorossi to sign Justin Kluivert is edging closer. Monchi met with Mino Raiola, the player's agent, yesterday, and it seems Kluivert is giving his approval to the move. The transfer fee is the only obstacle, as Ajax want over double what Roma are offering. Corriere Dello Sport claims that Monchi has also touched base with the representatives of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. Seri has attracted interest from many top clubs, but Monchi is unsure whether or not to activate his release clause. In terms of exits, Lorenzo Pellegrini continues to attract the interest of Juventus and Arsenal. CalcioMercato reports that the player's agent is set to meet with Juventus to discuss a move to Turin. Pellegrini is seen as an alternative for Juventus if they fail to land Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio. Talk of a departure for Alisson just won't go away, and Roma legend Cafu believes a move to Real Madrid is done. The former Brazilian right back was seen in a video in which he stated his belief that a move to the Bernabeu is close. However, Alisson's agent has strongly denied such claims in an interview with forzaroma.info. One goalkeeper who may join the club is Alex Meret. Sky Italia claim Roma are keen on the young Udinese keeper, who was on loan at SPAL this season.

Roma have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Ivan Marcano from Porto.
The centre back joins on an initial three-year contract. Marcano, 30, is a left-footed Spanish defender, who arrives on a free transfer. He adds much-needed depth and experience to Roma’s backline. He has won five major club honours in his career, most recently the Portuguese Primeira Liga in 2017-18. There is the option of a fourth year in his contract, should certain targets be met. Benvenuto, Ivan. A collection of Roma transfer rumours from the press across the continent.
Calciomercato is upping the speculation linking Justin Kluivert to Roma, reporting that Monchi is set to meet with agent Mino Raiola in the coming days. Raiola is also the agent of Mario Balotelli, who will be available on a free transfer and has been linked with Roma. Balotelli made a scoring return to the Italian national team this week, and La Gazzetta Dello Sport also believe he could be on his way to Rome. Despite previous links with Arsenal, Marseille and Borussia Dortmund, the striker now reportedly wants to return to Serie A, with Roma a potential destination. Gazzetta also claim that Kevin Strootman is nearing a departure from the capital. With Atalanta's Bryan Cristante rumoured to be joining, Strootman is seen as dispensable, and can be used to raise funds. Alternatively, Gerson or even Radja Nainggolan may be sold. Right back is an area that remains a concern for Roma, and Corriere Dello Sport believe that Hoffenheim's Pavel Kaderabek is a target. The 26-year-old is an international teammate of Patrik Schick. An initial €8m bid was planned, but Hoffenheim's Champions League qualification may have raised his market value. The same publication notes that Sassuolo have lowered their asking price for Domenico Berardi. The forward has worked under Eusebio Di Francesco before and Roma are on alert for his signing. Two goalkeepers have been linked with Roma exits. Several English papers are discussing Alisson's potential move to Liverpool, with Roma apparently setting a €90m asking price. However, Monchi is confident that the player will stay. It seems increasingly likely that Lukasz Skorupski will be sold, and Sampdoria have joined the race to sign him, say Il Secolo XIX. Finally, Il Romanista point to the impending arrival of Ivan Marcano. His flight into Rome will arrive this evening, with medicals set to take place tomorrow. The Porto defender is expected to sign a three-year contract. Ivan Marcano is set to become Roma’s second new signing of the summer, as he is reported to be landing in Rome tomorrow.
The Porto defender is out of contract this summer, so will be available on a free transfer. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Marcano will fly in for a medical tomorrow, having accepted the contract terms offered to him by Roma. His deal is expected to last for three years. Marcano has spent the past four seasons with Porto. One day after making their first signing of the summer, Roma are already looking to add further reinforcements.
Calciomercato reports that Monchi is hoping to complete a double deal for two Ajax players. Justin Kluivert, son of Patrick, is seen as a possibility for the left wing, and his teammate Hakim Ziyech is also under consideration for the midfield. Roma are willing to part with €40m for the duo, although Ajax's valuation is closer to €50m. Ziyech will be in action for Morocco at the World Cup, after choosing them over the Netherlands. Corriere Dello Sport has added to the fuel linking Kluivert to Roma, after the Dutch attacker liked Ante Coric's Instagram post of his new Roma jersey. It appears the 19-year-old is paying close attention to the affairs of the Giallorossi. Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Kostas Manolas could be headed out of Rome though, as Carlo Ancelotti desires him for his Napoli side. Manolas' low release clause means he will have no shortage of suitors, but would he really move to another Serie A rival? Stay tuned to Giallorossi Yorkshire throughout the summer for more Roma transfer updates. Roma have today completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, acquiring Ante Coric from Dinamo Zagreb.
Coric is a 21-year-old midfield player dubbed 'the new Luka Modric', and signs a five-year contract. He made over 100 appearances for Zagreb, and has also been capped twice by Croatia. Coric should provide some much-needed creativity to Roma's midfield, which has been a problematic area this season. The transfer fee for his purchase is €6m. Welcome, Ante. Multiple sources claim that Roma are monitoring the situation of PSG's Thomas Meunier.
The right back has fallen out of favour at Parc Des Princes following the arrival of Dani Alves last summer. Part of Belgium's squad for the World Cup, the 26-year-old scored four goals and made the same number of assists in Ligue 1 this season. Right back is a key area that Monchi will be looking to strengthen, given the disappointing seasons of Alessandro Florenzi and Bruno Peres. Sime Vrsaljko, who worked under Eusebio Di Francesco at Sassuolo, is also a potential option for the Giallorossi. |
