The Latest AS Roma News
Sky Sport Italia reported last night that Roma have apparently agreed a fee for Atalanta starlet Franck Kessie.
The agreement is said to be a fee of €30m for the 20 year old midfielder. However, wage demands may cause a problem for the transfer, as Kessie is asking for nearly double what Roma are offering him per year. Clubs with more financial power such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus have also been linked with the Ivory Coast international. Kessie has stood out in his impressive first season in Serie A and would be a valuable addition to Roma's midfield. He would also inject some young blood into the team. Let's hope he can reach a financial agreement with Roma so that he can don the Giallorossi shirt next season.

It's the news Roma fans have been waiting for - Monchi has landed in Rome to meet with club officials.
The former Sevilla sporting director has been heavily linked with taking up the same role at Roma, and this exciting news looks one step closer to confirmation today. The club have posted several images of Monchi's arrival in Italy on their official website, along with the news he is to hold talks with general manager Mauro Baldissoni and CEO Umberto Gandini. Expect to see more of Monchi on Giallorossi Yorkshire in the near future! AS Roma were crowned winners of the Primavera TIM Cup with a 2-0 win over Virtus Entella in the second leg of the final last night.
Goals from striker Edoardo Soleri and defender Riccardo Marchizza sealed the victory for the young Lupi after the first leg ended 1-1 (Marchizza also scoring the Roma goal in that game). Both Soleri and Marchizza have already featured for the Roma first team - Soleri in the Champions League against BATE Borisov in 2015 and Marchizza against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League in December 2016. This is the latest step in the progress of Roma's illustrious academy, which in recent years has churned out talent such as Alessandro Florenzi, now a seasoned first teamer who will hopefully make a full recovery from the injury troubles he has encountered this season, and players who have moved on elsewhere such as Matteo Politano, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Caprari (who will face Roma on Monday for his current side Pescara). It marks the seventh trophy of coach Alberto De Rossi's 503-game tenure as Primavera boss. Congratulations to the under 19s for their victory and hopefully we will see some of them in the first team in the near future! According to Football Italia this morning, Roma are set to sign Manchester City winger Jesus Navas in the Summer.
His contract at Pep Guardiola's side expires at the end of the season so he will be available on a free transfer. Italian sport paper Corriere Dello Sport claims that the former Sevilla man will sign a three year contract with the Giallorossi, but his former club are also interested in taking him back to La Liga. Would Navas be a good signing for Roma? Well, he is a player with experience in the highest European competitions, which would be welcome for the club. He is also a creative player, contributing 21 assists across all competitions over the past three seasons (statistic sourced from espnfc.co.uk). Perhaps he would not be likely to be a first choice player at Roma (certainly if the club retain Mohamed Salah for next season on the right wing that Navas usually plays on), but he would certainly be a valuable member of a competitive squad. And for a club who have struggled with Financial Fair Play before, it's always good to pick up top players on a free. Now we shall have to wait for time to tell us if Navas will become a Roma player. Giallorossi Yorkshire is delighted to announce its launch. The website is hoping to become a hub for Roma fans all across the world of football.
The website's founder, Samuel Bannister, hopes that the website will serve as a platform for Romanisti to interact with one another and also receive news, gossip and more information about the club they all support together. Any suggestions for the website in these early stages are also welcome. If you are interested in contributing, or have an idea, please visit the Contact section of the website. |
