The Latest AS Roma News
Hector Moreno has been sold to Real Sociedad after just half a season at Roma.
The first signing of the summer transfer window, Moreno joined from PSV Eindhoven, but only managed six appearances in a Roma shirt. As the transfer window drew to a close, Roma confirmed Moreno’s departure. The defender has moved to the La Liga side for a fee of €6m. The failure to integrate Moreno into the side may highlight an initial lack of communication between Monchi and Eusebio Di Francesco. The Mexican was a player admired by Monchi for a while, but it appears EDF did not have a place for him in his plans. With Leandro Castan also departing earlier in the window, that leaves Roma with just three recognised centre backs for the remainder of the season. Perhaps Daniele De Rossi will fill in there on the odd occasion, as the fourth option for the position. Whatever the reasons, it just wasn’t to be for Moreno at Roma. Good luck in Spain, Hector.

Roma have signed Jonathan Silva on loan from Sporting CP.
The left-back joins on a six-month deal from the Portuguese club. Silva takes the number 33 shirt vacated by Emerson Palmieri, who left for Chelsea yesterday. Roma have an option to buy the player at the end of the loan spell. Silva, 23, has been capped twice by his native Argentina. He began his career at Estudiantes, before making the move to Lisbon in 2014. He spent last season on loan at Boca Juniors. Benvenuto, Jonathan. |
