Just one game into his Roma career, Rick Karsdorp has become the next name in a long line of Roma players to suffer an ACL injury.
After making his debut against Crotone last night, the Dutch right back has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. His first appearance in the Giallorossi shirt had already been delayed, with the player having undergone surgery on his other knee shortly after arriving at the club in the summer. The 22-year-old will undergo further tests this afternoon. Roma striker Edin Dzeko has been named as one of thirty nominees for the 2017 Ballon D'Or.
The prestigious award honours the best footballer of the calendar year, and has never been given to a Roma player. The Bosnian forward has been in sensational form in 2017. His goalscoring exploits last season saw him break personal and club records, as he netted 39 times in all competitions. He has hit the ground running in the new campaign as well, with seven goals in six Serie A games so far. The 31-year-old has led the line extremely well for Roma this year, showing a range of qualities. Not only has he been exceptional in front of goal, he has worked tirelessly from the front in the defensive phase, and has looked to get involved in the team's build up play as well. It is this range of features of his game that have made him such a valuable component of this Roma team. Roma's number 9 has worked very hard during his time in Rome and this nomination is the culmination of that effort. Congratulations to Edin on his nomination. |
