The Latest AS Roma News
AS Roma were crowned winners of the Primavera TIM Cup with a 2-0 win over Virtus Entella in the second leg of the final last night.
Goals from striker Edoardo Soleri and defender Riccardo Marchizza sealed the victory for the young Lupi after the first leg ended 1-1 (Marchizza also scoring the Roma goal in that game). Both Soleri and Marchizza have already featured for the Roma first team - Soleri in the Champions League against BATE Borisov in 2015 and Marchizza against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League in December 2016. This is the latest step in the progress of Roma's illustrious academy, which in recent years has churned out talent such as Alessandro Florenzi, now a seasoned first teamer who will hopefully make a full recovery from the injury troubles he has encountered this season, and players who have moved on elsewhere such as Matteo Politano, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Caprari (who will face Roma on Monday for his current side Pescara). It marks the seventh trophy of coach Alberto De Rossi's 503-game tenure as Primavera boss. Congratulations to the under 19s for their victory and hopefully we will see some of them in the first team in the near future!
