The Latest AS Roma News
Roma will have to wait a little longer to return from the international break due to outbreaks of severe weather.
The Giallorossi were due to travel to Genoa to play Sampdoria tomorrow evening, but the Liguria region has been warned of severe weather. The area has been placed on ‘orange alert’ by Italy’s Civil Protection department, with heavy rain and strong winds expected. Some forecast stations have even predicted thunderstorms. Coincidentally, the two clubs were also victims of bad weather in a match at the Stadio Olimpico last season. Play was suspended before the second half due to a waterlogged pitch, with Roma 2-1 down. Edin Dzeko equalised before Francesco Totti scored a last minute penalty to secure the three points for the home side, admitting it was the first time he had felt nervous before taking a spot kick. The game could be rearranged for 13th or 20th December, according to Il Tempo’s Alessandro Austini. Roma will return to action on Tuesday night, facing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group stage.
