The Latest AS Roma News
Former Roma defender Cafu has suggested that his former teammate Aldair would be a good option to take over as the club's next coach.
Roma are yet to appoint a permanent successor to Eusebio Di Francesco after Claudio Ranieri's interim spell, with Shakhtar's Paulo Fonseca and Bologna's Sinisa Mihajlovic now the front-runners. Given the withdrawals of Antonio Conte - now appointed at Inter - Maurizio Sarri, Marcelo Bielsa and Gian Piero Gasperini from the race, it looks like Roma will be failing to upgrade on their previous boss, something which Cafu has noticed. The former right-back told Sky Sport: "I'm in love with Roma, let's hope we can go to the Champions League next year, together with Milan. "At this point it would have been better to keep Di Francesco, he was doing a good job." However, Cafu has a more unorthodox suggestion to replace the former Sassuolo coach - compatriot Aldair. "I would say Aldair, he can do it and he played there for a long time. He knows the place well." Cafu and Aldair won the Scudetto together with Roma in 2001. Want more Roma news on your timeline?
