The Latest AS Roma News
An unexpected rumour surfaced earlier - but then again, so did an unexpected transfer.
The agent of former Roma striker Marco Borriello has hinted that he may come back to the club this summer, to serve as back up for Edin Dzeko. Speaking to Rete Sport, Andrea D'Amico commented that Borriello is "in love with Roma" and the team "remain in his heart." The 34-year-old enjoyed a positive season in front of goal, contributing 16 Serie A goals for Cagliari, who finished 11th in the league. He also scored four goals in the Coppa Italia. D'Amico stated that linking his client to the club who owned him between 2010 and 2015 was "only a suggestion", but Roma should be in the market for another striker this summer, with Dzeko the club's only recognised centre forward. Borriello may be a cheap and capable option, but the Giallorossi still may look elsewhere.
