1998 – Francesco Totti scored a brace in a 4-0 win over Udinese, on the day he became official club captain. Eusebio Di Francesco and Paulo Sergio scored the other Giallorossi goals, as Roma continued their 100% winning record in home league games that season into a fourth match. In fact, Roma only tasted Serie A defeat at Stadio Olimpico once across the entire campaign, to Inter in early May. Totti inherited the captaincy from Aldair, becoming the youngest ever official captain of a Serie A side, a record which stands to this day. Aged 22 at the time, he emerged as the eternal symbol for the club, wearing the armband until his retirement in 2017. Also:

Marco Delvecchio scored the equaliser early in the second half to ensure Roma finished ahead of Lokomotiv Moscow, who beat Real Madrid on the same day.
