1980 – Cristian Chivu was born. The Romanian defender played for Roma from 2003 to 2007, making over 100 appearances before controversially moving to Inter. Chivu initially joined Roma from Eredivisie side Ajax. The centre-back helped the club to the 2006-07 Coppa Italia in his final season, during which he had attracted the attention of several top European clubs. However, he chose to move to Roma's rivals Inter, where he immediately won three consecutive Serie A titles. Also:
2016 – Despite going a goal behind, Luciano Spalletti’s Roma beat Eusebio Di Francesco’s Sassuolo 3-1, with a brace from Edin Dzeko and a goal from Radja Nainggolan. 2011 – Roma lost 2-1 to Genoa, with Fabio Borini scoring for Luis Enrique’s side. 2008 – Francesco Totti scored a consolation from the penalty spot as Udinese beat Roma 3-1. 2005 – Roma beat Inter 3-2, with Francesco Totti scoring a brace to add to Vincenzo Montella’s opener. 2003 – Roma drew 0-0 with Inter in Serie A. 2000 – Vincenzo Montella’s goal handed Roma a 1-0 win over Boavista in the UEFA Cup second round first leg. 1996 – Marco Delvecchio rescued a point with a last minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Juventus. 1994 – Roma turned their Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash with Genoa around, with Francesco Totti and Daniel Fonseca (2) securing a 3-0 second leg win. The Lupi progressed 3-2 on aggregate. 1988 – Roma lost 4-2 to Partizan in the first leg of their UEFA Cup second round tie. Bruno Conti scored a brace. 1986 – Diego Maradona’s goal condemned Roma to a 1-0 defeat to Napoli. 1980 – Roberto Pruzzo scored a hat trick as Roma beat Inter 4-2. The other goal was an own goal. 1969 – Roma beat Lazio 2-1 with goals from Luciano Spinosi and Fausto Landini. 1958 - Despite going 2-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes (through Arne Selmosson and Severino Lojodice), Roma lost 3-2 to Inter. 1947 – Roma won 4-1 against Atalanta with braces from Amedeo Amadei and Ferrari. 1941 – Amedeo Amadei scored a hat trick as Roma thrashed Napoli 5-1. Luigi Di Pasquale and Aristide Coscia scored the other goals. 1930 – Roma lost 3-2 to Juventus despite taking the lead through Cesare Augusto Fasanelli. Arturo Chini Luduena scored a consolation late on. 1903 – Renato Cattaneo was born. An attacker, he played for Roma from 1935 to 1937.
