2011 – Erik Lamela scored his first Serie A goal in a 1-0 win over Palermo. Lamela had arrived from River Plate that summer, but injury had delayed his debut until October. However, he quickly made an impact, finding the net eight minutes into the game at the Stadio Olimpico. The winger continued to impress for the next two years, earning a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. Also:
2016 – Roma beat Palermo 4-1 through four different goalscorers. Mohamed Salah, Leandro Paredes, Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy found the back of the net. 2007 – Goals from Juan and Mirko Vucinic saw Roma beat Sporting CP 2-1 in the Champions League group stage. 2005 – Roma drew 1-1 with Lazio, Francesco Totti scoring for the Lupi. Doni made his Serie A debut for Roma. 1994 – Abel Balbo scored in the last minute – his seventh goal in five league games – to give Roma a 1-1 draw with Cagliari. 1991 – Roma drew 1-1 with Finland’s Ilves in the European Cup Winners’ Cup second round first leg. Andrea Carnevale scored the opener. 1988 – Roma conceded a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Lecce. Ruggiero Rizzitelli had put the hosts ahead. 1987 – Alejandro Scopelli died at the age of 79. The striker represented Roma from 1933 to 1935. 1983 – Roma went top of Serie A with a 2-0 Derby win over Lazio. Sebino Nela and Roberto Pruzzo found the back of the net. 1977 – Roma lost 2-1 to Milan despite Giacomo Chinellato’s early goal. A certain Fabio Capello scored the winning goal against his former club for the Rossoneri. 1967 – Cesar Gomez was born. The centre back finished his career with Roma, but had actually been signed by mistake, only making one appearance. 1966 – Fabio Enzo scored the winner in a 1-0 triumph over Lazio. 1963 – Roma beat Messina 2-0 with goals from Giancarlo De Sisti and Antonio Valentin Angelillo. 1960 – Despite taking the lead first through Francisco Lojacono and then through Pedro Manfredini, Roma were pegged back to lose 3-2 to Napoli. 1955 – Carlo Galli equalised as Roma drew 1-1 with Napoli. 1949 – Roma fell to a 3-0 defeat against Palermo. 1932 – Roma lost 2-1 to Lazio, Rodolfo Volk scoring the side’s only goal.
