ON THIS DAY
1984 – Giuseppe Giannini scored his first Roma goal as he bagged an equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Juventus. After making a handful of appearances in the past couple of seasons, 1984-85 was Giannini's breakthrough campaign, as he was shown more faith. He scored five times in 37 appearances that year, giving him a good platform to build on. By the end of his time with Roma, Giannini had scored 75 goals in 437 appearances for the club. Only three players - Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Giacomo Losi - have represented the club in more matches than him. His 75 goals meant he was in the top 10 of the club's all-time scoring chart until this season, when he was overtaken by Edin Dzeko. Also:
