Roma take to the field on Friday evening for a clash with Walter Mazzarri’s Torino.
It will be the third time the sides have faced each other this season, with Roma winning 1-0 in the reverse league fixture, but Torino knocking the Giallorossi out of the Coppa Italia in December. After impressing against Napoli last time out, denting the Partenopei’s Scudetto hopes, Roma will look to replicate the performance and keep their place in the top four. With Inter and Lazio not involved until later in the weekend, it’s a good opportunity to get points on the board ahead of their rivals. Torino will be no pushovers though. Ninth in Serie A, they have some quality players in their squad, such as star striker Andrea Belotti and ex-Roma winger Iago Falque. While it never really took off for Falque in the Eternal City, he has flourished at Torino, with nine league goals in 26 games to his name this year. Roma are without Edin Dzeko and Federico Fazio for the match, as both are suspended for the number of bookings they have received. Perhaps this will be a blessing in disguise, so both players can rest for the massive Champions League match against Shakhtar the following week. As a result, Patrik Schick will start up front. Schick scored his first ever Roma goal against Torino, so will be hoping to strike against the same opponents again. It will be the second time Roma have played on a Friday this season - the other was a 3-1 win over SPAL. Roma certainly wouldn’t mind repeating that scoreline tomorrow night as well.
