Roma will be looking to build on a positive draw with Napoli when they face Fiorentina on Saturday evening, but will be without a key figure in midfield.
Last time out, Roma were denied the three points against title challengers Napoli by a late goal, but Eusebio Di Francesco will be hoping it can be a turning point for the season. Roma face a difficult start to November with this game followed by a trip to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and a Serie A home tie against Sampdoria, but coming so close to upsetting their rivals last week could have made a platform to build on. If Roma are to beat Fiorentina tomorrow, they will have to do so without influential captain Daniele De Rossi, who is ruled out for up to three games. This could provide an opportunity for Bryan Cristante to slot in the side, a player whose life at Roma hasn't started as well as he would have hoped. With a strong chance of playing three games in the next week, the midfielder has an opportunity to prove himself. Di Francesco suggested that Justin Kluivert could start on the wing, with Javier Pastore also available for selection again. Fiorentina have an identical record to Roma, with four wins, three draws and three defeats this season. However, unlike Roma, they have been strong at home this year, and are yet to taste defeat at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Meanwhile, Roma have won just two of their five away Serie A games. They will need to re-write the form book if they are to return to Rome with three points. Seven players have been involved in all 10 of Fiorentina's games, including on-loan Roma midfielder Gerson. The Brazilian didn't get much of a chance at Roma, although he did score a brace against La Viola last season, and he has relished the opportunity of more playing time, having already made the same number of starts this season as he did last year. Roma will be hoping he doesn't come back to haunt them. Key for Fiorentina, as usual, will be Federico Chiesa and Giovanni Simeone. The two young forwards have been an integral part of the side recently, and will be looking to get at a Roma defence that still looks inconsistent. Di Francesco has named several different defensive combinations, and it still seems as if he is unsure on his best option. Whoever is selected tomorrow will need to be at their best to prevent a dangerous strike force. Tomorrow's game kicks off at 5pm UK time.
