The Latest AS Roma News
Roma have confirmed a contract renewal for midfield starlet Nicolo Zaniolo.
The 20-year-old was eager to renew with the club after a breakout season, despite his form tailing off towards the end of the campaign. Juventus were reportedly monitoring the situation, but Zaniolo has now pledged his future to Roma. An official announcement from the club confirmed that the Italy international had penned an extension, meaning his contract now runs until 2024, rather than 2023. Reports suggest he has doubled his salary, and will now earn somewhere between €1.5m and €2.5m per season. “A year ago it was an easy decision to choose Roma, and today it is even easier – after a season that helped me fall in love with this team and this city,” he told the club's website. “I would like to thank the club for giving me the opportunity to tie myself even closer to these colours – it is exactly what I wanted.” Zaniolo contributed six goals from 36 appearances in his maiden Serie A season, and was one of the key players as Roma defeated Real Madrid in their penultimate pre-season friendly on Sunday.
